DAY 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
First step for Everest Base Camp trek is to land at the Kathmandu airport. Our representative welcomes you at the country’s one and only international airport. After checking in hotel at Kathmandu (1400m above sea level), you may roam around the valley if you are early. As you are up to a long trail, you might gather essential equipment and tools for the trek. You can get all the essentials right around the Thamel. Get towards hotel as soon as possible and get your rucksack packed before a proper sleep.
DAY 2: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (40 mins)
Many options to reach Lukla are available but flying straight toward it is quite direct and time saving. Although landing at Lukla Airport is regarded as one of the dangerous airport in the world, but landing directly at this airport gives you more time to spend on lap of the Himalayas. Bad weather causes flight delays often but, if the weather is clear, many flights toward Lukla are available.
DAY 3: Lukla to Phakding (3-4 hrs)
Many trekkers opt to move toward Phakding on the same day as you land on Lukla but no accurate time to land at Lukla due to weather causes you an overnight stay at Cheplung. Arrangement of porters and guide can also be done on the day you land at Lukla, so in perspective of walking this is the first day of trail. When you start your journey, soon you ascend towards Ghat (2530m) and then you will climb again before reaching Phakding at the altitude of 2610m above sea level.
DAY 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (5-6 hrs)
On this day, you walk through Nyambua Thang, Chumda and Monjo (2800m), keeping the Dudh Koshi River side by side. After registering yourself inside Sagarmatha National Park by paying NPR 1000, you cross the beautiful Dudh Koshi River. Then we walk pass Tawaa and Larja Dovan to reach Namche Bazaar (3440m), our destination for the day.
DAY 5: Acclimatizing at Namche Bazaar (Rest Day)
You can keep on walking in this day also but peaceful rest day at Namche Bazaar may become quite fruitful. As you can visit Sherpa Culture museum, Everest Photo gallery keeping Himalayan range face to face, Namche Bazaar is most famous place for travelers around Khumbu region. Several Trek shops, hotels, restaurants, pharmacies, money exchangers, ATM, Banks and massage centers at high altitude are the main attraction at Namche Bazaar. So a day break revives yourself again for the rest of your adventurous trail.
DAY 6: Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche (5-6 hrs)
Namche Bazaar farewells you on your remaining trip with breakfast of your own choice before you move forward to Tyangboche. There are 3 routes available in the trail but route via Khumjung and Khunde is a beautiful one. Trail via Kyangjoma is the shortest one but it offers less adventure for you. After passing through Phunki Tenga you reach forward Tyangboche. You can also offer your prayers at famous Tyangboche Gompa for you safe and successful journey ahead. Accommodate yourself with pre-booking or you have to settle in a camp in a windy settlement.
DAY 7: Tyangboche to Dengboche (5-6 hrs)
By crossing many suspension bridges over high flowing rivers, you ascend towards Imja khola. Several Mani stone wall around the way with swaying prayers’ flag on cold breeze doesn’t let you lose your patience while passing by Pangboche and Orsho. From this point, the altitude also keeps you on check while trailing side by side of beautiful rhododendron forest until you reach Dengboche. An overnight stay at here is must.
DAY 8: Dengboche to Lobuche (5-6hrs)
Some of you opt for another rest day at Dengboche also, but it certainly depends upon amount of time you have. If you stay one more day at here, you can walk through Nagarjun Hill and return also. But if you opt for moving forward, your destination for the day will be small settlement named Lobuche. Along the way you can get attractive views of Pumo Ri, Khumbu glacier and Lobuche peak also.
DAY 9: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (Everest Base Camp and returning Gorak Shep) (8-9hrs)
It is the most awaited day on the whole trip. Gorak Shep is one of the last settlement before reaching Everest Base Camp with accommodation but cold weather and high altitude makes you stay a lot harder. For the mountaineers coming for Everest expedition, it is the beginning point of the expedition. Hiking alongside Khumbu glacier while reaching Base Camp your utmost motive of the trail gets fulfilled.
DAY 10: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar return trip and trek back to Lobuche (7-8 hrs)
3 hours return trip to Kala Patthar (5550m) is a must go because it is on higher altitude than base camp and offers utmost view of Everest range. Some of trekkers also descends down to Dengboche or Pheriche but acclimatization at Lobuche is recommended after such a high effort adventure.
DAY 11: Lobuche to Tyangboche (8-9 hrs)
It is a longer day of walk because you are going to cover the same distance you covered on your upward trail in just one day only. But don’t worry, it will not be much harder as you step down instead of climbing your way up. At the end of the day, you will reach up to Tyangboche for an overnight stay.
DAY 12: Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (5-6 hrs)
You return via same route you passed through few days earlier as you walk across Phunki Tenga, Kyangjoma, Khunde, Khumjung at reach Namche Bazaar. A windy trade hub on high zone has many option to offer for curing your tiredness of such a long and hardworking journey. Enjoy massage and spa facilities available here with evaluation of medics.
DAY 13: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (7-8 hrs)
After having your desired warm breakfast at Namche Bazaar, you have to restart your journey again. While crossing through Phakding, Cheplung, and monjo, scenic view of Himalayan ranges never goes far from your sight until you reach Lukla. Confirming your return flight to Kathmandu should be your first priority while accommodating yourself nearby Lukla airport for an overnight stay.
DAY 14: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu (40 mins)
It is the day to leave the beautiful mountainous district of Nepal; Solukhumbu. If weather is good and visibility is clear, you will be able to return Kathmandu as planned. But if weather is not good as desired, the flight will be delayed or postponed for next day so, be prepared for that. If u are lucky enough to land Kathmandu early enough you can explore more aspects of Kathmandu and enjoying night life of Kathmandu is also highly recommended.
Day 15: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Many of the tourists’ plans this day as a reserve day to hang around Kathmandu valley to recognize both cultural and historical aspect of Kathmandu, but staying a further day depends upon time pressure on you. You will be dropped off to airport three hours before by our representative with warm farewell. We strongly believe many hidden adventures in Nepal makes you return quite soon in future. Namaste !!
