Overview

Mera Peak climbing is regarded as one of the highest trekking peaks in the world. Mera peak is a mountain which is situated in the Mahalangur section, Barun subsection of the Himalaya and administratively in Sagarmatha Zone of Nepal. To be precise, mera peak is located at Hinku valley in the Northeren Nepal. Mera Peak climbing generally consist of three summits namely “Mera Central, Mera North and Mera south”. Basically, Mera central is just 6461 meteres , Mera North is 6476 meteres whereas mera south is 6065 meteres. However, Mera north is known as the true Summit, which is hardly ever climbed by trekkers.It is believed tremendously that in early 50s before and after the scaling of Mount Everest , mera peak region was first explored by British expedition.
Mera peak is often referred as one of the desirable destinations for trekking to the all kind of trekkers either they are experienced or aspirant, who dream to conquer the taste of climbing on peaks and mountains. It consists of its own captivating views, and its own charm. Moreover, Mera peak climbing is more preferable mostly on spring and autumn season on these seasons, it is easier for mountaineers to get a magnificent view of various Himalayan panorama. Mera peak climbing is basically a physical challenging as well as thrilling and exciting too. It is challenging trek due to its altitude meteres.
The first climbing trip to mera peak was on 1992 which was organized by Himalayan Glacier. We will be climbing the peak firstly by-passing various forest, full of rhododendron (national flower of Nepal), also remarkable views of five mountains which are in altitude over 8000 meters above sea level. Experiencing the culture and lifestyle of local Sherpa’s will make you jaw-dropping. There are many things to explore during your trip. Below is the itinerary which is designed meticulously.

Day 1: Arrival to the Kathmandu Nepal

First step to Mera peak climbing is to land at TIA. Our responsible representative will be there at airport holding your name plate, to welcome you. After the first meet he will escort to the hotel you will be staying at. It will be your luck to enjoy the night life of Kathmandu city if you be early during arrival.

Day 2: sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley

A long flight to Kathmandu may bother you. To entertain and make you curious about Mera peak climbing , our guide throughout your following journey will give you a certain information about gears and essentials needed during the journey. He will take you outside to buy essentials on very famous place for trekking Gears. Later on, he will take you for sightseeing of Kathmandu valley. Sightseeing includes major historical and cultural places like Kathmandu durbar square, kumari ghar (living Goddess ), swyabhunath (Monkey temple), pashupatinath temple and Bouddha. You can capture the traditions and culture of Nepalese people during the sightseeing.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla Airport and trek to Chutanga

After your desired breakfast on hotel lane at 7 am. You will receive by your guide for next trip. Our driver will drop the team to domestic airport to fly lukla. the flight will be of half an hour on the lap of snowcapped mountains. The lukla airport is one of the most thiriling airport at on altitude of 2900 meters. The porters and guide will escort you here for the further trek. At first it will be the easy trek, towards east where we passes the numbers of wodden yards and hamlets which take you to a dense forest of silver fir, rhododendron, birch and pines. Crossing various big and small stream up to Kharka will energies you for the further trekking journey. Overnight stay will be at the Chutanga, which is on altitude of 3450 meters.

Day 4: Trek to tuli kharka( Altitude:4250 meters/13944 feet)

Trekking hours ( 5 to 6 hours) After overnight stay at Chutanga , at early morning we will head towards the Tuli kharka via Zatrwa la. The real adventurous trekking journey will start from here, where we begins our memorable trekking with a step climbing to cross the Kalo Himal ridge through Nau lekh range. We can clearly see how those ridge and range separetes the Khumbu vakley with Hinku valley. The journey up to the ridge will show you the admiring multicolored flags and that spot is known to be the Zatrwa la. After seeing the captivating views from zatrwa la (altitude 4600 meters/14720 feet) , we will slowly reurn downwards to the Tuli kharka. We will spend our rest of the time there at hotel having best accommodation. Altitude: Tum/13,944ftm/14720 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD

Day 5: trek to Gothey (altitude 3600 m/11812 ft)

Trekking hours (5 to 6 hours) After breakfast, our journey will revive again by walking in a hurtle trail for a few hours and then we will cross the few ridges which come along on the way, the walk will take you down towards the Hinku river. After breakfast, starts walking in a descending trail for a while and then crossing few ridges, you will walk steeply down to the Hinku River. Chirp of birds will fresh you there, later on we will vaguely straight towards the upward ascending hill which lead the way to Gothey of Hinku Valley. Then, slightly ascending uphill will takes you to Gothey of Hinku valley. Reaching the Hinku Valley you can enroll with people of there and we will check in to the several teahouses and lodges for our overnight stay.

Day 6 : trek to Thagnag (altitude 4350 m/14272 ft)

Trekking Hours (5 to 6 hours) Having the local breakfast at Hinku Valley, our trekking will start again. On your way The shadow of mera peak over the ridge of hinku river will energies you differently. Gondishung lies in the west bank of Hinku Drangka, where the snack and resting place will organize for you for a certain time. Gondishung is famous for summer herders’ settlements. you will pass an ancient Gompa- Lungsumgba Gompa,which is consider to be 200 years old. To ensure the successful ascend of Mera peak a ancient tradition is done by offering a Juniper incense to the holy place.after the tradition rituals we will have a short walk which will take you to the Thagnag. It is a meadow land for grazing Yak during summer.we will spend our night at local hotels and taste the local cuisine of Thagnag village.

Day 7: Acclimatization day at Thagnag (altitude 4350m/ 14272 ft)

On this day, your guide will give the information about proper acclimatization , needed for further journey. After the lunch at 9 am you will learn various climbing technique from the guide before heading towards base camp. You can take your time in practicing by doing short hiking. To make your practice strong, hike towards the huge moraine ( situated in the north of Tragnag) will help you. You can explore the beauty of glacial lake- sabal Tsho. In addition a cairn lies on the flanks of kusum kangguru will be beneficial for acclimatization. After your short hiking you can retrace back towards Thagnag for overnight stay.

Day 8: Trek to Khare ( altitude 5025m/16486ft)

Trekking hours (3 to 4 hours) Though today will be the trekking of 3 to 4 hours, it will be little bit tiredsome trek till now. We will move to the base camp of mera peak towards east which follows the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to the pasture named as Dig kharka. This is famous for incredible view of Charpate himal. You can capture the views of ranges from here. Later on , you will follow rocky trail and the lateral moraine to reach up to the snout of Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers. After exploring the natural beauty , we will walk towards the khare via steeper trail. Our night will stay in a camp at Khare.

Day 9: Ice Climbing practice at khare (altitude 5025m/16486ft)

After a night spend on a camp at khare, at early morning , after a breakfast you will be engage in practice for ice climbing. The season will challenge you to climb ice. However climbing will depends on the availability of ice. Availability of ice will make your climbing program fabulous but in case of unavailability you can rest either in the camp or you can hike over there , the choice will be yours. To enjoy the clear view of Mera la and the route up to the mountain, you have to walk a couple of hours from khare. The walk will get you the point where you can practice ice climbing. After practice there for a few hours by following the instruction of guide , you will be again returning back to your camp. There you can make a final preparation to crest mera peak.

Day 10: trek to mera base camp (altitude Mera la 5415m/17766ft, base camp 5350m/17552ft)

Trekking hours (3 to 4 hours) Initially, the day 10 will be first step to mera peak climbing. Actually you will make a way to mera base camp. However the trek will be short to acclimatize you. On your way, you will climb through the pinnacle of the enormous rocks and sediments to reach underneath of Mera glacier. Meeting the end point of Mera la will gives a life time memory. You can enjoy the surrounding of Mera la after a while, we will retrace our journey back to set a base camp in the moraine. Our night will well spend there below the ice.

Day 11: Climb to Mera High Camp (altitude 5750m/18865 ft)

The trek route can be dicey if it has been snowed lately. You should be cautious on your way to high camp. However to set up towards high camp you will have to make your way through top of the rock band , which is labled by large cairn. The wonderful view of mountain and ranges excruciating the skyline will rejuvenate you for the upcoming trekking journey.

Day 12: summit day and descend to khare (altitude 6476m/21241ft)

Trekking hours (8 to 9 hours) The D-day of the entire journey will be day 12. Today's destination is to kissing the summit Mera peak. Waking up early and being ready with crampons and rope will make you even more curious about what will happen next. An experienced group can summit the peak in 3 to 4 hours from High Camp. Once you reach to your destination "The Mera Peak", captivating view of mountains such as Mt.everest (8848m), Nuptse(7855m),lobuche(61445m), Lhotse(8201m), Makalu (8463m), Chamlang(7319m),Cho-Oyu (8201m), Kanchenjunga(8586m)and other mountains which are over 6 thousand meters can be seen from here. Taking some recreation time, and luxuriating yourself on the lap of mountains, you will retrace your trekking journey again, being back to Khare. You may have warm soup at high camp to increase your immunity. Overnight stay will be at khare.

Day 13: Contingency Day

You will be resting all day at khare and explore many more hidden facts of Khare. This day is put in itinerary, because of unpredictable weather in Himalaya. You can cut off this day if everything goes fine during your trekking.

Day 14: Trek to Gothey (altitude 3600m/11812ft)

Trekking Hours (4 to 5 hours) On this day we will be retracing our trekking journey through the Hinku valley to the Gothey using the same trail we used before. Once you reached Gothey, you can lost yourself in between the peoples and surrounding of Gothey .You can taste some local wines and celebrate. Rest of the time is yours, relax yourself. Our staying will be at one of the finest lodges available in Gothey.

Day 15: Trek to tuli kharka (altitude 4250m/13944 ft)

Trekking hours (4 to 5 hours) Lusting in between the lush forest, your climbing journey begins again. Rhododendron, pines, alpines, and bamboo on the west side of hinku valley to the Tuli Kharka makes your journey more adventurous. We will be staying at Tuli Kharka overnight.
Altitude: 4250 meter

Day 16: Trek to Lukla (altitude 2100m/9186 ft)

Trekking hours (3 to 4 hours) Today,will be the last day of your trip in the lap of Himalaya,you will enter to the lukla. the journey will start from tuli kharka to Zatraw la top. You will finally enter to the Lukla by walking all the via Chutanga. Overnight stay will be at finest accommodation hotel. You can celebrate your success with crew members and spend quality time there.

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu

Once you reach Kathmandu, you will be escorted to your hotel. You can go out for roaming and to do shopping on your lesuire time. You will be invite at Nepalese hotel for your farewell tomorrow. You can taste the Nepalese cuisine, share your experience and gives feedback. You will have wonderful time there.

Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu

The time to bid a goodbye is here. Our representative will receive you from the hotel and drop you to the TIA. See you soon. Namaste!
